Yes, even Disney can make major game-breaking mistakes in a game like this. In fact, this is why Club Penguin Island had a beta test. This is why online games tend to run beta tests. How do you test features that requires multiple players yourself? You can’t. When it comes to online games, however, things change. When it comes to making normal games, you can easily just test the game through and through yourself to catch all the bugs. Even when you have tools to make it easy, you still make mistakes. For those of you who don’t know, when it comes to programming, even the most experienced programmers make mistakes. In other words, if you gonna do membership, you should make the non-membership experience fun too, not as much as being a membership, because if you are having fun as a non-member, no second thoughts that you gonna love being a member, but if you ain't having fun as a non-member, you don't know if being a member makes it fun or just the same.Beta Testing in Club Penguin started August 22, 2005, 2 months before it’s official release. Its like "Hey, don't you want to have the other 90% of the stuff that actually makes the game fun? buy our membership"

Toontown let you play the 1/7 of the "story game" just fine, and after you complete, it says "hey, do you want more of that? then buy our membership."Ĭlub Penguin did that was well, It let you have some puffles, it let you have stamps, it let you play some levels of minigames, it let you get some free items from the actual party, it let you be a ninja, an epf agent (it even let you complete the PSA missions), a tour guide and more and more, and after you done everything they ask "hey, do you want more of that? then buy our membership."Ĭlub Penguin Island basically let you play one adventure, have a few emojis and waddle around the island, and thats it. I mean, the Club Penguin and Toontown did a good job at showing you that this game is fun and you need membership to make it more fun. The game seems good, although again, everything you need to do is membership only. Believe me or not, some nostalgics won't stop them from gaining money over CPI. And that one company, my friend, will not end support on CPI in the upcoming years because they gain from it and they wasted much of their effort into it. In the end, it's Disney who takes the cake and runs away with it. So what do the kids do now? They cry to their parents and parents desperately start throwing money to Disney. Disney took advantage of this and published Club Penguin Island where literally everything is subscription-locked. And those kids has their parents' money in their grasp. Those devices seem are far more easier to use than PCs (in their standpoint) so kids play with them. Because as technology grew today's young generations started using handheld devices like mobile phones or tablets, iPads, those kinda stuff.

So what Disney did was scrap the PC and Mobile Club Penguin and make a new game only focusing on mobile devices.

The game had become a meme, most of the playerbase were people who wanted to troll kids online and a very minority paid for memberships. Think about it: Why waste at least 2.5 years to develop this game if you are going to make everything free? Club Penguin clearly wasn't earning well compared to 5-6 years before, so they had to switch up strategies. What do you think Disney makes these games for? For profit of course. Why are you seeing Disney trying to get more money as a flaw, that I don't understand. I respect your opinion but please stop accusing Disney of doing anything involving making the new game, it was mostly the Club Penguin Team. Outdated device/using too much MB/GB/old device, because it doesn't happen to me. They had to do something to boost its popularity, and even controversy makes money.Ĥ. Also, see, nobody really liked old CP at late 2016-2017, no point in keeping the original if it keeps losing popularity. Disney did not "recreate it", the CP team did, so please stop using that illogical assumption. Nobody was talking about CP before anyways.ģ. People are complaining only because of nostalgic blindfold covering their eyes. Obviously, all games need money to survive, the old CP was dying and had less than 10% of gaining more revenue. Your opinion, but IMO Disney is not a greedy company unlike EA or other ones.Ģ. Just disney re created it on their own perfect game ideaġ. the game just sux, its like original CP at 2017, but there is no parts of original CP. they just wanna get more money, thats why they created this game with EXTREMELY high ammount of features that require membership. The game is just a try of disney to get more moneyĢ.
